Q. WHY WOULD I NEED THIS SERVICE FOR MYSELF, MY FAMILY OR MY EMPLOYEES
A. Last year there were over 6 million car accidents and 20 million emergency room visits. On average it takes a hospital 6 hours to contact a family member of a patient that is unable to respond and doesn’t have emergency contact information on them. In the event of an accident or medical emergency six hours can seem like a lifetime or a matter of life or death. For as little as 12 cents per day you can have peace of mind knowing that if anything happens to you your family or an employee, we will begin notifying people on that person’s contact list within 10 minutes of our staff being alerted. In addition, for some people, every minute counts when it comes to getting treatment. If a person has special medical conditions, medications, allergies, etc., the ability for medical personnel to know this information CAN save their life. Through the use of the medical history section of the member portal, this information can be saved and made available to the personnel treating the patient.
Q. HOW MANY PEOPLE DOES THE MEMBERSHIP COVER?
A. The membership is for one individual. If more than one member of your family needs to have the service, additional memberships will need to be purchased.
Q. I OFTEN TRAVEL OVERSEAS FOR BUSINESS AND/OR PLEASURE, DOES MY NOTIFICATION SERVICE WORK IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES?
A. YES. My Notification Services 24/7 toll-free number accepts calls from many countries and territories. For those countries in which our toll-free number does not work, we have a supplemental Emergency Email Address on the sticker for emergency personnel to use that will be directed to our call center for immediate attention.
Q. IF I HAVE CERTAIN MEDICAL CONDITIONS OR I’M ALLERGIC TO CERTAIN DRUGS OR MEDICATIONS, CAN I ENTER THAT INFORMATION IN MY FILE SO IN CASE OF EMERGENCY THE DOCTOR’S TREATING ME CAN BE MADE AWARE OF IT?
A. Yes! My Notification Service will transmit potentially lifesaving medical information you have entered into your file to the hospital where you are being treated. This is a unique service offered only by the caring professionals at My Notification Service at no extra charge to you!
Q. IN THE EVENT I AM INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT OR A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, WHAT WILL THE STAFFERS AT MY NOTIFICATION SERVICE CALL CENTER TELL MY CONTACTS?
A. In order to avoid any confusion or misinformation, the operator will respond as follows: ” Hello this is My Notification Service, is this Mrs. Smith? Yes? We are calling to inform you that Mr John Smith has been admitted to Mercy Hospital, the phone number there is 1-800-555-1212, please contact them for further information. Thank you”
Q. AM I ABLE TO UPDATE THE CONTACT INFORMATION FOR PEOPLE ON MY NOTIFICATION LIST, NEW MEDICAL INFORMATION, OR OTHER INSTRUCTIONS AT ANY TIME?
A. YES. You can update any of this information by logging on to our secure website with your user name and password, then going to MY ACCOUNT.
Q. MY CHILD IS AWAY AT COLLEGE. WHERE DO I LIST HIS/HER COLLEGE ADDRESS?
A. List the college address in the comment section of your child membership.
Q. WHO WILL BE CONTACTED FIRST?
A. The operators on duty will cal in the order in which they are listed. Please take the time to think about who needs to know first.
Q. IS MY ELECTRONIC RECORD KEPT PRIVATE?
A. YES. Your records are kept private and secure in order to protect the members’ personal information. Only members can determine who can see the information in their records.
Q. How long does it take before I receive my decals and ID Card?
A. On average 7 to 10 business days.
